Transneft offers to transport sulfurous oil separately from other types

Transneft has offered to transport sulfurous oil by separate stream to the terminal in the port of Ust-Luga (the Leningrad region), said deputy vice president of the company Igor Katzal.

The oil terminal’s capacity is 30 million tons. Previously, sulfurous oil mainly mixed in a pipe with low-sulfur oil in varying proportions depending on the direction of the supply. But the situation with a sulfur content in the oil deteriorates, says Katzal. In 2013, Transneft took 77 million tons of high-sulfur oil in the system, while the total volume of the transportation was 481 million tons. In 2014, "we are about the volume of 80-81 million tons of this oil". "For example, we have the October sulfur index of 1.5% in Primorsk. And the maximum permitted value there is 1.55%. The rate at Druzhba and Ust-Luga was about 1.59% for a long times. And now, at the end of October - 1.65%. Novorossiysk remains at the level of 1.35-1.4%, it manages to keep the situation,"- says Katzal.
