Experts don’t understand why Azerbaijan needs Russian gas

SOCAR has been interested in the purchase of Russian gas in the volume of 5 billion cubic meters a year, which causes extreme surprise, given the fact that the country itself has good export potential of "blue fuel", says the Natural Gas Europe.
"This is a very strange situation, which turned out to Azerbaijan. Medium-term export opportunities of the country are quite good, especially with regard to implementation of the Shah Deniz-2 project, from which it is planned to start the gas supplies to Turkey, Bulgaria, Greece, Albania in 2018, and to Italy - at the beginning of 2020," – it is stated in the article.
