Before the end of the year, Transneft to displace oil from branch of the Baltic pipeline system to pump diesel fuel

Before the end of the current year, Baltnefteprovod, a subsidiary of Transneft, will complete the displacement of oil in one of the branches of the Baltic Pipeline System (BPS) for its conversion for diesel fuel, general director of Baltnefteprovod, Vladimir Yakimov reproted.

He recalled that the work to increase the throughput capacity of the North project began in autumn of the previous year. "Today, the displacement of oil and the cleaning of the main pipeline are carried out at the section from the plant KINEF in Kirishy to the specialized oil-loading seaport of Primorsk.

V. Yakimov emphasized that this is a time-consuming and technically difficult process, because the issue of the fuel quality at the end point is important. He noted that more than 240 km must be passed, and it is planned to complete the works before the end of the year.
