Transneft talks about eastern direction of oil transportation and extension of ESPO oil pipeline’s capacities

The vice president of Transneft, Igor Katsal has noted that the eastern direction of oil transportation is premium for oil companies - the average price of crude oil is by 1-1.5 thousand roubles higher here than in other directions. This is connected with high quality of oil, transported via ESPO - it is low-sulfur, with high content of light fractions.

Igor Katsal recalled that Transneft implemented the program to increase the ESPO’s capacity to 80 million tons, which is caused by the level of the high demand for the oil pipeline’s capacity from the oil companies. At the same time, he emphasized that this work was to be synchronized with the oil production in region of the pipeline. However, according to I. Katz the claimed new fields in Eastern Siberia can not fully fill in the ESPO these 80 million tons of oil.
