Norilsk Nickel asks to reduce the payment for harm done to the ecology

​Norilsk Nickel filed a claim to the Arbitration Court of the Krasnoyarsk region. Norilsk Nickel asks to prove invalid a number of orders of the regional Government.

The Court says: Norilsk Nickel, like any other industrial enterprise, has to pay for the negative influence on the environment.

Meanwhile, if a company invests into the nature preserving measures (in particular, into production modernization), it has the right to reduce the payment for harm done to the environment by the volume of expenditure.

In this case, as stated in the claim, the enterprise has executed all the necessary conditions for the recalculation of payments. Taking into account the corrections, the payment was supposed to be reduced by 1.1 bln roubles. Norilsk Nickel had its right confirmed for the reduction of payment for harm done to ecology on the results of 2013.
