"Mechel" pays 1.1 billion roubles of loan interest to the VTB.

The Bank does not intend to withdraw its complaints from the Singapore "subsidiary" of "Mechel" for 16 billion roubles.

The enterprises of "Mechel" - "Yuzhnyi Kuzbass" and "Yakutugol" – had transferred 1.13 billion roubles to the VTB bank on January 16 and 23, thus fully meeting the interest arrears (including overdue and current) on loans for 16 billion roubles, the representative of "Mechel" told "the Vedomosti". On January 12, according to VTB, "Mechel", owed the bank more than 70 billion roubles and more than $ 170 million. The representative did not answer about other serviced loans to banks, stressing only that the company was in talks with all banks, including VTB, on debt restructuring and hoped to resolve the situation through an agreement. Total debt of "Mechel" was $ 7 billion on December 1.
