Kamchatka to look to become a gold leader of Russia

The mining industry must become one of the leading economic sector in the Kamchatka region, the Governor Vladimir Ilyukhin stated during his visit to the gold deposit Zolotoye. The mine construction at the Zolotoe deposit is carried out by the company Kamchatskoye zoloto, a part of the holding company Zoloto Kamchatki, the press centre of the regional Administration reported.

“The construction is in the process now. We prepare the first start-up complex. It will include tunnel drivage, creation of artificial crown pillar, which will provide safety work during the main production and allow us to avoid losses of the main ore, - the CEO of the Kamchatskoy zoloto Alexei Shakhmatov told. – Gold is contained in quartz veinings. Their occurrence is almost vertical. We have to work in difficult mining and geological conditions. During the drivage we try to avoid rock breakage and gold losses”.
