Kaz Minerals reduced cathode copper production by 2.9% in 2015
In 2015, 14.5 mln tons of ore were extracted (the growth by more than 3 times), 70% of which was extracted at the group’s growth projects: 7 mln tons of ore – at Bozshakol mine, 3 mln tons of oxidized ore – at Aktogay mine.
In 2015 Kaz Minerals group produced 81.1 thousand tons of cathode copper, that meets the annual plan of 80-85 thousand tons with the basic scenario of copper concentrate production of 89.4 thousand tons.
In 2014 the volume of cathode copper production made up 83.5 thousand tons.
The average copper content in ore in 2015 made up 1.1% (2.35% in 2014) and takes into account the extraction at the Bozshakol and Aktogay projects with copper content in ore of 0.69% and 0.37% respectively.
