ARMZ, Atomredmetzoloto is going to start lead and zinc ore extraction at the Novaya Zemlya archipelago in the Arctic area from 2019. The combine will be built at the Yuzhny island of Novaya Zemlya and will become the most northern mining enterprise in the world.
The oriented project capacity will be over 2.5 million tons of ore a year.
The operator is the First mining company of ARMZ that got the license for lead and zinc ore exploration and extraction at the federal importance subsoil site in the Arkhangelsk region.
The site includes the Pavlovskoye field, one of the Russian largest complex deposits.
Exploration will be executed by Rusburmash.
