Stannum production is planned to be renewed in Yakutia with participation of Chinese investors

​The head of Yakutia, E. Borisov, said that Yakutia plans to renew stannum extraction with the support of Chinese partners.

We consider a project on stannum extraction in Sakha-Yakutia with the participation of Chinese investors, he said. We recently met with a company which is interested in this idea.

Today the interest was shown by other companies too, he said.

Mr. Borisov said that from the part of Russia the project will be realized by the regional investment company.

It is necessary to renew stannum extraction in Yakutia as it is one of the regions with the largest stannum reserves in Russia, he said.

The “Ruchei Tirekhtyak” project has been launched in Yakutia. It will allow to provide up to 50% of the need of Russia in stannum. It will be financed by the Fund of Industry Development. In 201 the plant at the stannum deposit in the Arctic zone in the Ust-Yansky district will be put into operation. The extraction volume will make up 500-3.5 thousand tons of stannum a year with the annual need of Russia of 6.5-7 thousand tons.
