In the first 4 months, copper ore mining in Kazakhstan doubled year on year
In January-April 2016, the production of copper ore amounted to 21.8 million tons against 10.9 million tons in the same period in the previous year. For comparison, in the first 4 months of 2015, the figures were by 9.3% less than in 2014.
In the long-term dynamics, 2015 returned to growth trend after fall in 2014. In 2015, the growth was 13.7% in the segment of copper ores.
The production of copper concentrates (higher percentage of copper than conventional copper ore) grew by 2.9% to 3.3 million tons. In the same period of 2015, the increase was slightly higher - plus 5% compared to January-April 2014. In the long-term dynamics, the growth rates fall from 2012, when the growth compared with 2011 was 2.5 times.
