Zaporozhsteel has stopped a blast furnace for capital repair

A blast furnace has been shut down for 2 months with the daily cast iron production of 3,200 tons at Zaporozhsteel.

Zaporozhsteel of Metinvest group of R. Akhmetov has shut down for 2 months its blast furnace #2 with the useful volume of 1,513 cubic m and daily cast iron production of 3,200 tons, the press service of Zaporozhsteel reported adding that the value of the capital repair is about 200 mln grivna.

The main goal of the capital repair of the blast furnace #2 that will be held in the framework of the production reconstruction and modernization program is the recovery of resources and project characteristics, increase of reliability of the blast furnace, improvement of products quality, rise of energy efficiency. The capital repair of the blast furnace also presupposes a significant renewal of the furnace’s aspiration system aiming for the improvement of the ecological results of work of the unit. In particular, after the reconstruction the ecological characteristics of the unit on dust emission out of combustion gases.
