A new Mill-5000 is launched in Nizhny Novgorod region

A new “Mill-5000” with a production capacity of up to 1.5 million tons of wide sheet products a year from high-test steel grade is being launched today. According to preliminary data, the Vyksunsky complex will be up and running at full capacity by the end of 2012.
The main contractor of the building operation is German Strabag. The main supplier of the equipment is SMS Siemag AG (Germany). The total volume of investments into the project is 45 billion roubles.
The launch of Mill-5000 will allow solving the problem of high-grade wide sheet products import for domestic pipe industry and provide the output of large-diameter pipes at the Vyksunsky metallurgical plant, as well as to supply sheet products to the enterprises of iron industry, machine-building, nuclear, ship-building industry, military industrial complex and other sectors,” they said in OMK, which comprises the Vyksunsky metallurgical plant.
As they stated in the press-service of OMK, about 40 thousand tons of metal construction was necessary for the implementation of the project “Mill-5000”. A consortium of the plants, such as Chelyabinsk metalworks, Don constructional ironworks, Belgorodenergomash and other enterprises of the sector manufactured them. The output of sheet products at Mill-5000 is automated. An operator does not interfere with the production process. The staff was trained at similar complexes abroad. This is the third “Mill-5000” in Russia.
