Russia zeros out export duties on nickel and copper

According to decree dated July 22nd, signed by the Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, the Russian Government zeroed out export duties on unalloyed nickel and copper cathodes. The decree comes into force 30 days after its official publication.

The current rate of export duties on nickel is 3.75%, copper - 10%.

At the end of May 2014, the subcommittee on customs and tariff regulation decided to early zero out duties on nickel and copper; previously it was planned to abolish them in 2016. The early abolition of the export duties on nickel and copper was suggested by Norilsk Nickel, the largest nickel producer in the world and one of the largest copper producers.
