Mechel owes about 3 bln roubles to Eurasia Development Bank

The negotiations with Mechel are constructive in general – the bank can’t see any emergency for itself.
The chairman of the Eurasia Development Bank, D. Pankin, said that the bank was negotiating with Mechel OJSC on its current debt by the previously issued loans for about 3 bln roubles.
“We haven’t filed a claim to the Court, we are negotiating…”, Mr. Pankin said.
Besides the Eurasia Development Bank, 3 largest Russian banks – Sberbank, VTB and Gazprombank– are holding constructive negotiations with Mechel. VTB has filed a claim against Mechel to the Moscow Arbitration Court. The total amount claimed by VTB is 50.18 bln roubles. On February 18th Mechel filed a claim against VTB.
