In Q1, UC Rusal increased aluminum production by 2%
In the first quarter of 2015, UC Rusal of Oleg Deripaska increased the production of aluminum by 2% to 900 thousand tons from 883 thousand tons in the same period of 2014, the company reports.
As compared to the fourth quarter of the previous year (915 thousand tons) the aluminum production decreased by 2%.
The average sale price of aluminum was $2282 per ton, which is by 5.7% less than in the previous quarter. As noted, this was caused by decrease in spot price of aluminum on the LME, as well as by reduction in premiums for physical delivery of the metal to key export markets. However, the figure was by 11.7% more than in January-March of the previous year ($2042 per ton).
