Dispute on tariffs breaks out between UC Rusal and Russian Railways

The consequences of railway tariffs indexing won’t be detrimental for metallurgical enterprises. This was stated in a letter of the road territorial organization of the Russian Trade Union of Railwaymen and Transport Constructors at the Sverdlovsk Railway (Dorprofsozh), today sent to the Governor of the Sverdlovsk region Evgeny Kuyvashev.

Let’s recall, earlier, the trade unions of Severouralsk bauxite mine (SUBR, a part of UC Rusal) expressed concern in the application to presidential aide Andrei Belousov about the growth of railway tariffs by 10%, planned by the Russian Government from January 1, 2015. The SUBR’s letter expressed concerns about the negative impact of increasing railway tariffs on performance indicators of Ural enterprises of UC Rusal, which will lead to a reduction in investments and social protection for employees, staff reduction and deterioration of the socio-economic situation in the region. A similar letter was sent by the trade union of Bogoslovsky aluminum plant (also a part of UC Rusal).
