NLMK supplies 2 million tons of steel slabs to Vyksa metallurgical plant

A technical council, devoted to development of cooperation between NLMK and United Metallurgical Company in the supply of steel slabs, made by Novolipetsk Steel for the production of large diameter pipes at Vyksa metallurgical plant, was held in Vyksa. On the whole, under the long-term contract the NLMK Group shipped 2 million tons of steel slabs to the Vyksa metallurgical plant since August 2012.

The technical council considered joint steps to provide current and future projects of Russian oil and gas companies with the OMK’s pipe products. The sides discussed the status of the implementation of joint initiatives to improve the efficiency of the production and made a plan of future work.

NLMK's steel billet is designed to produce a wide flat steel plate at mill MKS-5000 and the subsequent production of large-diameter pipes at welding shop-4 of the Vyksa metallurgical plant. MKS-5000, launched in 2011, provides facilities for the production of large diameter pipes at the Vyksa metallurgical plant with rolled sheet with width of up to 4.85.
