Steel output in the Ukraine sets anti-records

Military action has disturbed the operations of the largest metallurgical enterprises in the Ukraine.

Steel output in 2015 might fall to a record low level – 22 mln tons due to the shutdown of metallurgical plants in the Lugansk and Donetsk regions. Experts consider such forecast to be neutrally optimistic as in case the conflict touches Mariupol, steel making in 2015 might fall to 20 mln tons. The export of rolled products will fall as well.

Metinvest has analyzed the perspectives of development of the sector in 2015. Steel output might significantly fall – to 22 mln tons. In 2014 it made up 27.2 mln tons.

The monthly steel output at the volume of 1.8-1.9 mln tons which makes up the annual volume of 22 mln tons has been present in the Ukraine from October 2014. The analyst of Concorde Сapital, R. Topolyuk said that the fall is due to the shutdown or reduction of production rates of metallurgical enterprise in the Lugansk and Donetsk regions due to the military actions.
