MMK at the fourth process stage
The history of roll-formed shape production mastering began from output pf the first channel beam at the Magnitogorsk metallurgical plant on March 20th of 1974.
That time, cold-bent sections were widely used in various industries - automobile and railroad car building, in construction - due to their high dimensional accuracy, good surface quality and increased burden resistance. Their advantage over hot-rolled profiles was evident. The rational distribution of metal over the cross section provided increased durability, moment resistance and design capability of structures with a minimum of weight. Use of roll-formed shape instead of hot-rolled section bars reduced the labor costs of the consumers and provided metal savings due to elimination of metal machining, assembly, riveting and other labor-intensive operations.
