The government of Russia holds an ongoing debate on the early zeroing the customs duties for non-ferrous metallurgy.

A decision to extend the preferential rules for the granting of state guarantees to the metallurgical companies until the end of 2015, but the question remains open.

The accession to the WTO obliged Russia to change the export duties: Moscow has to reset them by September 1st, 2016. They have already been reduced for Nickel from 5 % to 3.75 %. On September 1st, 2014 it is expected to be further reduced to 2.5%, and in a year - up to 1.25 %. The copper export duties should be reduced simultaneously on September 1st, 2016.
