Evraz NTMK has mastered steel grinding balls for the enterprises of non-ferrous metallurgy

​Evraz NTMK has mastered and implemented the technology of production of steel grinding balls with a high level of firmness and wear-resistance for the grinding of non-ferrous metal ore. The balls are produced out of specially worked out steel mark. The first lot of the new product has already been shipped to one of the Russian gold mining deposits.

Grinding balls produced by the new technology differ by the increased thickness of the hardened layer up to 30-34 mm which is by 3 times more than that of balls of the second group of firmness. Due to the homogeneous structure new balls keep their form longer and provide long-lasting operation of the grinding mill without the additional loading.

Evraz NTMK produces steel grinding balls out of high-quality continuously cast blank; steel undergoes vacuum treatment that excludes the production of inner defects – flakes. The period of keeping new balls in special bunkers for the elimination of inner strain is significantly increased.
