The Donetsk economist Y. Makogon says that recession in the Ukrainian coal sector is connected with lack in the estimation of the balance of coal consumption inside the state and the decline in global demand for metallurgy products. The Ukraine does not have coal balance. In his opinion, the excess coal yield can be used for the transferring of heat stations from gas to coal. Now they use energy blocks operating on coal by 50-60%. Besides from that, the Ukrainian metal producers have not achieved as yet at least the volume of production of the Soviet era.
