Alrosa plans to start gold extraction

Alrosa, the largest company on diamonds production in the world, will start to develop gold deposits for the first time, Vice-Prime Minister of Russia, Y. Trutnev, said.

“The company will also extract gold in Yakutia”, he said.

“We spoke about the ideas submitted by the company to the Government to raise its efficiency. One of the suggestions is a possibility of gold mining. It is clear no other company will start developing these sites now. So either Alrosa will receive these gold sites or no one else”, Mr. Trutnev said.
