The Russian mining and metallurgical sector increased the production of coal to 28.5 million tons, cast iron to 4.4 million tons, and steel to 5.8 million tons, and reduced the production of pipes to 711,000 tons and ready steel to 4.7 million tons in Jan 2014. Industrial production index was 99.8% versus January 2013 and 81.2% versus December 2013.
