Severstal to spend $500 million for new blast furnace in Cherepovets

Steel and mining company Severstal of billionaire Alexei Mordashov has decided to invest about $500 million in construction of a blast furnace for 3 million tons of pig iron at the Cherepovets metallurgical plant, the Kommersant reports on Friday, July 17, citing sources in the industry and the government of Vologda region.
