Manager of Uralkali goes to Alrosa

Alrosa’s president Andrei Zharkov has continued formation of his team. As the Kommersant has got to know, adviser to the president of the diamond sales was appointed Oleg Petrov, who was involved in the organization of sales and marketing in Uralkali. Over the last month, this is the third personnel decision of Mr. Zharkov. Two of them, including the present one, are connected with the name of businessman Suleiman Kerimov, who is interested in Alrosa not for the first year.

The appointment of Oleg Petrov as adviser to the Alrosa’s president on sales was told the Kommersant by a source close to one of the shareholders of the diamond company (43.9% of its shares belong to the Russian Federation, 25% plus 1 share - to Yakutia). "The post of adviser in Alrosa is time for him: the top manager of this level wouldn’t left Uralkali, where he worked for ten years and was in good standing, with no warranties of a more serious position," - said one of the Kommersant’s interlocutors. Now the company’s vice president Yuri Okaemov, who takes the post for more than five years, is responsible for the sale of rough diamonds. Alrosa confirmed the appointment, noted that Mr. Petrov worked adviser to the President since September (Uralkali officially announced his resignation from the post of director of sales and marketing from November 1 yesterday), but refused to comment on the range of his duties.
