Russian metallurgical companies reduced steel output but increased cast iron making

​In Jan-August 2015 the Russian metallurgical companies produced 46.8 mln tons of steel and 34.9 mln tons of cast iron.

According to the federal service of state statistics, in Jan-August 2015 the Russian metallurgical companies produced 46.8 mln tons of steel, which is by 1.1% less than in Jan-August 2014.

Cast iron output in Jan-August 2015 made up 34.9 mln tons, by 3.1% more than in Jan-August 2014. The output of saleable rolled products fell by 1% to 40.4 mln tons; steel pipes production by the ferrous metallurgical enterprises rose by 7.6% to 7.6 mln tons.

In August 2015 steel output fell by 3.8% against August 2014 and by 0.5% against July 2015. The output of saleable ferrous metals rolled products also fell: by 3.6% and 1.4% respectively.

In August the Russian pipe companies increased production volumes in annual terms by 2.9% but reduced against July by 0.7%.
