In 2014 Germany hooked on Russian coal .

In 2014 Germany increased purchases of coal from Russia, and the volume of imports grew at a maximum rate since 2006, the Federal Statistical Office of Germany (Destatis) reports.

In the past year the coal imports from Russia to Germany increased by 6.6% to 12.6 million tons. The statistical data is contrary to the EU statement on the course of the redistribution of energy sources to reduce the dependence on Russian gas and oil, the Bloomberg agency states.
