Mongolia discuss coking coal export plans to Japan via the Transsib-DVZhD
Analysts of the Mongolian Energy Resources LLC and Japan Sumitomo Corporation are studing the possibility of coking coal export from Mongolia to Japan via the Trans-Siberian Railway with transshipment in the ports of the Primorye Territory, the leading specialist of the corporate communications department of the Far-Eastern Railway (DVZhD) A.Artamonov said.

According to him, the head of the delegation, vice president of Energy Resources LLC, D.Ekhtuvshin noted that the Ulan-Bator rail road together with OAO “Russian Railways” discuss the question on the transportation of coal towards the ports in the south of the Primorye region now. A pilot shipment of over 10-15 thousand tons of coal from Mongolia to the countries of the Asian-Pacific ocean region is planned in the end of the first half of 2011. Coal transportation from Mongolia to the ports of the Primorye region via Transsib may exceed 1 million tons a year in future,” they noted at the press-service, citing Ekhtuvshin.
The representatives of the Mongolian business are interested in throughput and transshipment possibilities of the eastern part of the Trans-Siberian Railway. The head of the delegation stated during the negotiations that Ulan-Bator is ready to discuss the question of the construction of a coal terminal for transloading of the Mongolian coal in one of the ports of the Primorye region,-RIA Novosti reports.
