UGMK to invest 135.5 bln roubles into modernization until 2022

The Ural mining and metallurgical plant (UGMK, the Sverdlovsk region) invests 135.5 bln roubles into the modernization of its enterprises through until 2022. The information is provided in the development strategy of the metallurgical sector approved by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia. Kommersant writes.

The document of the Ministry of Industry and Trade enumerates the company’s already known projects: expansion of the main production site – “Uralelectromed”, main raw materials assets – Gaysky GOK, turning to the underground production method at the Safianovsky copper-sulphide deposit, the development of the Yelkinsky and Yelansky nickel deposits, as well as the Yubileyny, Podolsky and Ozerny copper-sulphide deposits. Until 2015 UGMK will invest about 20 bln roubles into the expansion of the capacities of the Gaysky GOK (the Orenburg region) from the current 5.5 mln tons to 8 mln tons of ore a year.
