Casting -rolling complex of OMK increased production output by 15% in February
In February the casting-rolling complex (a part of OMK) produced 83 thousand tons of hot-rolled coil stock that exceeds by 15% the level of the same period in 2010. 16 thousand tons of plates and 22 thousand tons of strips were produced.
The total shipment of hot-rolled coil stock, strips and plates in February equaled to 77 thousand tons (+20.4% against February, 2010).
From the beginning of the year the casting-rolling complex produced 166 thousand tons of hot-rolled coil stock, 37 thousand tons of plates and 42 thousand tons of strips.
The priority goal of the casting-rolling complex is providing the pipe production at the Vyksa metallurgical plant (VMZ OAO, Vyksa, Nizhny Novgorod region, a part of the United metallurgical company, OMK CJSC) with rolled products. In 2010 87% of small and middle diameter pipes were produced out of steel of the casting-rolling complex. In 2011 it is planned to raise this rate up to 100%.
Despite of increasing the production of rolled tubular products, the casting-rolling complex plans to expand the range of products and start the production of thin hot-rolled products that might be used in other industries. Coiled and flat stocks meant for building structures and shipbuilding will be applied.
The United metallurgical company (OMK) is one of the largest domestic producers of pipes, railway wheels and other types of metal products for the energy, transport and industrial companies. There are 4 large metallurgical enterprises in the structure of OMK: Vyksa metallurgical plant OAO (the Nizhny Novgorod region), Almetievsk pipe plant OAO (Tatarstan), Trubodetal OAO (the Chelyabinsk region) and the casting-rolling complex (the Nizhny Novgorod region).
In 2010 OMK provided 24% of the volume of pipe production by the Russian enterprises, including 42% of big diameter pipes and 64% of the Russian consumption of railway wheels. In 2010 the enterprises of OMK produced 2.2 mln tons of pipe production of different assortment and also 664 thousand railway wheels.
