This summer three years passed since the laying of the first stone in the foundation of Mikheevsky GOK.
By the time of Mikheevsky GOK construction the structure of the mineral resource base of copper in Russia seemed to be unshakable: about 40% of the reserves fell on the copper-nickel deposits, 20% - on copper-pyrite, while the share of porphyry copper was, frankly, miserable. The ore mining was actually distributed between copper-nickel and copper-pyrite deposits in the ratio of about 70:30. Abroad, most of the reserves and production fell just on porphyry copper deposits.
