In Q1, UC Rusal significantly decreased revenues and profit
UC Rusal has reported that in the first quarter 2016 the average price of aluminum on the London Metal Exchange (LME) grew by 1.3% to $1515 per ton as compared with $1495 per ton in the fourth quarter of 2015, but the average sale premium decreased by 3.9% in the comparable periods, while the average selling price decreased by 3.6% to $1666 per ton in the first quarter 2016 as compared to $1729 US in the fourth quarter of 2015.
In the first quarter of 2016, the company's revenue decreased by 22.7% to $1.914 billion as compared to $2.477 billion in the first quarter of 2015 due to the decrease of the aluminum prices on the LME by 15.9%, as well as a sharp drop in the average sale premiums to $172 per ton in the first quarter of 2016 as compared to $424 in the same period last year.
