UC Rusal now worth more than its stake in Norilsk Nickel
The aluminium price rise has forced up the market capitalization of UC Rusal. The company finally is worth more than its share package in Norilsk Nickel.
The aluminium market is recovering. Due to the rise aluminium prices and metal deficit in the market (not taking into account China) investors pay more attention to the aluminium companies. Yesterday UC Rusal for the first time from July 2013 is worth more than its share package in Norilsk Nickel (the aluminium holding holds 27.8%). Yesterday on the Hong Kong stock exchange UC Rusal was valued at $8.8 bln, and the package of Norilsk Nickel on the LSE - $8.7 bln. From July 2013 UC Rusal rose by 33.5% in price, Norilsk Nickel rose 24%. Other aluminium producers also rise in value – Chalco (from the beginning of the year rose 12.1% to $7.68 bln), Alcoa (by 43.7% to $20.1 bln) and Norsk Hydro (by 25.8% to $12.4 bln).
