Following Russia Donetsk has renewed coal supply to the Ukraine

The Government of the Donetsk republic has decided to renew coal supply to the territory controlled by Kiev, the Minister of Transport of the Donetsk republic, S. Kuzmenko, said.

The decision was made right after the President Putin made such an order. It was done because on December 8th the Ukraine recovered the operation of one of the power lines shipping electric energy to the Crimea. In fact it ended the energy blackout of the Russian region which lasted for 2 weeks.

The decision to renew coal supply to the Ukraine was made in response for the diversion of the Ukrainians who destroyed all 4 power transmission lines leading to the Crimea. Russia and the Donetsk republic said that they wouldn’t ship coal to the Ukraine until the latter restores energy supply to the Crimea.

The majority of mines where the anthracite necessary for the Ukraine is extracted stayed at the territory controlled by the Ukraine. Enterprises producing cheap and not profitable gas coal stayed in Donbass. Coal shipment is complicated by the destroyed infrastructure, in particular, by the destroyed railroad. Now Kiev has to buy anthracite from South African Republic.
