Alrosa has started extraction at Botuobinsky pipe
Alrosa has started extraction at the Botuobinsky kimberlite pipe of the Nyurbinsky GOK and plans to found an affiliate at het Zarya mine in Yakutia.
The pipe is being developed by the open-pit method. This year it is planned to extract 230 thousand tons of ore there or about 1 mln karat of diamonds. The project capacity is about 400 thousand tons of ore a year that will be processed at the existing capacities of the Nyurbinsky GOK, the company’s press service reports.
The stripping works have been held at the pipe since 2013. Capital investment into the preparation for industrial extraction made up about 3 bln roubles within 2 years. The launch of the Botuobinsky pipe is to cover the extraction fall at the Nyurbinsky pipe and support the annual extraction volume at the GOK in general at the level of 7.5 mln karat of diamonds.
