By 2018 diamond mining in the Arkhangelsk region would reach 7 million carats, and its share of diamond production in Russia might reach 20% after 2020, the governor of the region Igor Orlov stated in the framework of the V International Forum "The Arctic: Present and Future".
According to him, there is the only diamond province in Europe in the Arkhangelsk region. "The regional government pays great attention to the formation of the diamond sector of Pomerania", - he stated.
