Ministry of Energy hints at cheap energy sources – Russian export to be supported by discount to world prices

For the first time the Government thinks to tie Russian energy sources prices to foreign prices to support the competitiveness of the Russian industry. But consumers and analysts find this measure ineffective: not only tariffs must be compared, but also the energy intensity of plants.

According to the draft long-term forecast of social and economic development of Russia through until 2030, in the long-term perspective, the Government plans to compare the internal prices of gas and electricity with the prices on foreign markets. It is supposed that this period the level of the energy source prices in Russia will be lower than abroad and this will support the export.
