TMK expects a fall in the pipe market of Russia

​In 2015 pipe consumption in Russia reached a historical maximum of 10.8 mln tons. In 2016 the consumption will slightly fall, the chairman of the Board of Directors and major shareholders of TMK, D. Pumpyansky, said.

We will hardly be able to repeat this result. We assess the consumption in Russia at 9.8-9.9 mln tons in 2016, he said.

Production capacities on the output of pipe products in EurAzES make up 25 mln tons a year, and the surplus pressurizes the market increasing the competition among producers, he said.

The maximum of supplies of LDP for the construction of the Power of Siberia pipeline was in 2014-2015, D. Pumpyansky said. According to him, the increase of domestic consumption of LDP is possible in 2017-2018 if a “political decision” is made on the construction of Power of Siberia -2.
