Taganrog metallurgic plant closes its last open-hearth furnace

The last open-hearth furnace has been closed at the Taganrog metallurgic plant (Tagmet), which is a part of TMK Pipes. This was the last steel-smelting facility of this type at TMK Pipes’ enterprises.

The Vice Governor of the Rostov region S.Gorban, the Deputy Governor and Minister of Industry and Energy A.Grebenshikov, the Minister of Economic Development of the Rostov region A.Levchenko, the Taganrog’s mayor V.Prasolov and other representatives of Administration and Chiefs of Taganrog’s enterprises took part in the solemn closing ceremony. Representatives of Russian oil and gas companies, which are the main consumers of the pipe products, made at the Taganrog metallurgic plant and TMK Pipes – Rosneft, Gazprom, Surgutneftegaz, Bashneft and other – also took part in solemn events. Representatives of the plant’s staff, workers and veterans of the open-hearth shop were among guests.

In advance of official solemn part numerous guests of the Taganrog metallurgic plant, accompanied by the TNK Pipes’ General Director Alexander Shiryaev and the Tagmet’s CEO Dmitry Livshits saw the main shops of the plant and acquainted themselves with new arc furnace, steel vacuum treatment installation, continuous-casting machine and tube-rolling complex with continuous mill PQF.
