In 2014, Metinvest reduced production of raw materials
In 2014, the mining and metallurgical monopoly of Rinat Akhmetov Metinvest reduced the production of iron ore concentrate by 6% in comparison with 2013 to 34.888 million tons, coking coal concentrate - by 26% to 4.098 million tons, the company reports.
In the fourth quarter of 2014, it managed maintain the total production of iron ore concentrate at the level of the previous quarter. Programs to stabilize the work of Northern GOK helped to compensate loss of production at Central GOK and Ingulets GOK because of limited power consumption.
Production of commodity iron ore production decreased by 103 thousand tons due to changes in the structure of commodity products in favor of pellets and increased domestic consumption after the restoration of EMZ.
In the fourth quarter, the salable concentrate production decreased by 397 thousand tons as compared to the previous quarter - largely as a result of increased consumption of concentrate by Metinvest’s enterprises by 223 thousand tons and reduced concentrate production in favor of pellets (174 thousand tons).
