Mechel to increase coal extraction by 15% in 2015

​In 2015 Mechel plans to extract 25-26 mln tons of coal. In 2014 the company extracted 22.6 mln tons of coal, 10.1 mln tons of which is coking coal concentrate.

We plan to extract about 25-26 mln tons: about 12.5 mln tons at South Kuzbass and 13 mln tons at Yakutluga, including 3.5-3.8 mln tons – at Elga, CEO, O. Korzhov, said.

According to him, the volume of coal enrichment at the Elga deposit in 2015 might make up 1.7 mln tons, volume of saleable products shipment – 2.4-2.5 mln tons. 70% of the total shipping volume is thermal coal, the rest – coking concentrate.

On the results of 2014 the extraction at the Elga deposit made up 1.2 mln tons, enrichment – 714 thousand tons. Due to high reserves at the stock houses, the shipment made up 1 mln tons.

In 2015 Mechel plans to produce 3.5-3.7 mln tons of iron ore concentrate (in 2014 – 3.1 mln tons).
