In 2014, UC Rusal expects to save $24 million due to the development of competition during the ordering of transport services and the signing of long-term contracts.
The selection of operators through contests will also allow the aluminium company to decrease the costs by $2.78 million by reducing the cost of transportation using sea containers, the Interfax reports.
UC Rusal covered almost all the needs of its enterprises in the rolling stock till the end of 2014 due to a contest on the choosing of carriers. In February-March of this year, the company held a similar selection of freight forwarders of sea containers, due to which tariffs for maritime transport to Asia, Europe and America fell by 11-29%.
