The reconstruction of the Kola MMC is in full swing.

The work related to the strategic plans of "Norilsk Nickel" are in progress on the Kola Peninsula. One of the main goals of the modernization – is to turn KMMC into the main refinery area of "Norilsk Nickel", "the Rossiyskaya Gazeta" informs. This construction has given impetus to the development not only for the metallurgy but also for the construction industry of the Murmansk region. "Today, the builders are working on almost all the industrial sites, - Bogdan Kuzhel, the director of the production department of MMC "Norilsk Nickel". – There are a lot of such places as Monchegorsk, Polar and Nickel, where the main KMMC production facilities are located. All production is virtually affected - we are talking about the cobalt, the refining and the electrolytic production, the concentrating factory, the smelting workshop and the mining enterprises. Terms are tight because we have a clear commitment to the state, to the shareholders of the company. "In particular, today in the framework of the renewed strategy "Norilsk Nickel" is implementing a project of the closing a nickel plant in the Norilsk industrial area. The nickel refining capacities are transferred to the Kola Peninsula, where they already work using the new technologies. For example, the power station technology has already been tested by the Arctic metallurgists. The project related to the construction of the complex for the utilization of saline outflow – the liquid waste from the nickel production – is designed to minimize the impact on the environment of the industrial site. It will eliminate the discharge of the boron, sulfates and chlorides of sodium residues contained in industrial effluents into the water bodies. Another unique project of "Norilsk Nickel" in Monchegorsk site Kola Peninsula is to create the facilities for the production of metal cobalt, which is in demand in the world market.
