In H1 of 2014, production of stainless steel decreased

According to the assessment of the Association Spetsstal, in the first six months of 2014, the primary production of stainless steel products (flat products, long products and forgings) in Russia decreased by 17.8% as compared with the same period of the previous year. The production of flat-rolled products decreased by 49.3%, and primary billets by 22.6%.

The production of long products, on the contrary, increased by 12.5%. The leader of the decline was Mechel. All enterprises of the group reduced the production of stainless steel. Chelyabinsk metallurgical plant decreased its production by 60.0%, Izhstal by 18.5% and Uralskaya Kuznitsa by 26.2%.

Against this background, Krasny Oktyabr increased the production by 18.1%. Also, the stainless steel production increased at Elektrostal by 1.9% and at Asha metallurgical plant by 19.7%.

A negative result was shown by Zlatoustoust metallurgical plant. The volume of its production decreased by 22.8%.
