Ural steel (part of Metalloinvest) reduced steel production in the second quarter 2013 by 27.6% to 333 thousand tons from 460 thousand tons in the first quarter of 2013. The company explains it by a shut-down of open-hearth steelmaking.
Besides, after the scheduled repair of a roasting machine and the capital repairs of the metalizing machines No1 and No2, the Oskolsky electrometallurgical plant reduced the output of pellet by 6.8% to 907 thousand tons in the second quarter against the first quarter.
