Unique operation on the replacement of equipment of steam generator was held at Kola MMP

The specialists of the Kola mining and metallurgical plant (MMP) replaced a 16-ton steam drum at the heat power plant in Monchegorsk.

The steam generator of the Monchegorsk thermal power plant of the Kola MMP has been operated over 50 years. To realize the project a temporary moving rack was constructed to move the drum inside the shop. A part of equipment needed to be dismantled, technological holes were made in the roof. The new unit is assembled at the height of 11 m inside the thermal power plant. Two 130-ton cranes Liebherr were executing this operation, the cranes were located outside. They simultaneously lifted the drum onto the temporary rack via the roof.

Such operation on the replacement of a large unit was held by the specialists of the Kola MMP in the conditions of production process for the first time. Now the repair of the boiler is almost over, after the issue of the necessary permission of the control bodies, it will start functioning again.
