Why China is interested in oil and gas sectors of Central Asian countries
This interest became noticeable in the mid 90s of last century. Since that time, the region's importance in China's energy, as well as in the economic policy, is steadily growing.
Thus, in the middle and late 90's the designated activity of China and Chinese companies in the oil and gas industry of the economies of Central Asian countries focused solely on Kazakhstan, but at the beginning of the XXI century the interest of Beijing began to gradually spread to other states in the region. Today the main focus of China is focused on the oil and gas industry of Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan. But the Chinese presence in the oil and gas industries of other countries of Central Asia is connected with not only its energy needs, but also with the objective to promote other (economic and political ) interests in these countries and the region as a whole.
