Coal mining fell by 11.3% to 6.7 mln tons in the Ukraine in Q1 2017 against Q1 2016, the Statistics Service reports.
Coal mining in March 2017 fell by 17.7% to 2 mln tons.
Coal export from Russia to Japan rose by 16% in 2016 against 2015 – to 18.54 mln tons, the Ministry of Energy reports.
Compared with Q1 2016 the mining grew by 35%.
Elgaugol (a subdivision of Mechel), which develops the Elginskoye field in southern Yakutia, plans to produce 4.5 million tons of coal this year.

In January-March this year, miners of Kuzbass produced 57 million tons of coal that is by 6% more than in the first quarter of 2016.
In January-March 2017, the extraction of natural gas in Russia increased by 8.2% to 161 billion cubic meters. This is reported by the Federal State Statistics Service.
On the result last month coal reserves at the Ukrainian thermal power plants grew by 5.2%.
